Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre

We recognise and acknowledge Whadjuk people as the Traditional Owners of Herdsman Lake Regional Park.

The Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre is located right on the edge of Herdsman Lake and provides an opportunity for the community to interact with the research being conducted there.

About this place

There are bird walks, information nights, night stalks and wildlife excursions. Car parking and links to the lake circuit trail are available. There is a coffee window and a gift shop too. The WA Gould League manages the centre.

Visit the Atlas of Living Australia for a list of species recorded within a 5km radius of Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre.

Traditional Owners

This park has a rich history and cultural heritage. Local Noongar and Yellagonga Aboriginal people used the area as a source of food. 

We recognise and acknowledge Whadjuk people as the traditional owners of Herdsman Lake Regional Park.

Opening hours as below. Wednesday open in the afternoon 3-5pm during school term. 

Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Saturday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

No park entry fee

Entry to Herdsman Lake Regional Park is free.
