About this campground
Fernhook Falls is a small campground with two huts. It is not suitable for caravans and camper trailers.
Access to the falls viewing platform and to the river downstream of the falls for swimming and launching kayaks is via a gravel path with stairs and boardwalk. There is alternate access to the falls viewing platform via an asphalt path from the day-use area adjacent to the campground.
The Munda Biddi long-distance cycle trail passes close by on Beardmore Road.
The maximum stay in the huts is three nights.
Booking
For stays from Monday 12 October 2026
Bookings are essential and can be made:
- online only
- for one campsite only that you must camp on yourself, or for one campsite with hut only that you must sleep in yourself
- up to and including the day of arrival (subject to campsite availability and your own internet service* to make a booking)
- up to 180 days (approximately six months) before arrival
*Check your mobile service provider’s coverage map but beware that the quality and reliability of service in regional and remote Australia can be variable and is impacted by the forests and hills of Australia’s South West.
Friends, family or other social groups travelling together who cannot be accommodated on the same campsite or in the same hut must make their own separate bookings.
If you are an outdoor education provider, licensed commercial tour operator or are organising an event (friends, family and other social groups camping together does not constitute an event), contact Parks and Wildlife Service Frankland District Office (Walpole) to discuss your requirements.
For stays before Monday 12 October 2026
Bookings cannot be made. On arrival at the campground you may occupy any suitable vacant site or hut after paying the relevant fees.
Campsites
Nine campsites that are suitable for tents and swags only.
Two campsites also have wooden huts with timber bunks and wood-fired heaters. Bring your own mattress or sleeping mat. Steps to hut entry.
Sloped gravel paths, some with steps, or concrete wheel stops between tent/swag spaces and vehicle parking spaces.
Parking spaces for some campsites only are suitable for a campervan or rooftop tent.
Most campsites have a fire ring.
All campsites have a picnic table.
All campsites are unpowered.
Campsites vary significantly. Check campsite details and the campground map carefully when booking.
Facilities
No-flush pit toilet.
Food preparation and dining shelter with gas barbecues, dishwashing sinks with unheated rainwater (not guaranteed year-round), food preparation surfaces, picnic tables and benches. Access to the shelter is via steps. A shelter with similar facilities at the adjacent day-use area has access with no steps.
Campground Rules
Maximum stay at the huts is three nights.
Campfires and solid fuel barbecues, cookers and heaters (including wood-fired heaters in the huts) are not permitted during the prohibited burning period for the Shire of Manjimup, when the Fire Danger Rating for the Southern Forests Fire Weather District is High, Extreme or Catastrophic or when a Total Fire Ban is in force for the Shire of Manjimup. Go to Emergency WA for Fire Danger Rating and Total Fire Ban information. Additional fire safety restrictions may be imposed at any time and without notice if conditions demand.
When campfires are permitted, they must be within the provided fire rings only. Collecting firewood and kindling is not permitted in national parks and other conservation reserves. Bring your own firewood. Check current restrictions on the movement of wood, including firewood, to prevent the spread of the invasive pest polyphagous shot-hole borer.
Gas or liquid fuel appliances, including stoves, barbecues, heaters and lighting may be used unless a Total Fire Ban is declared for the Shire of Manjimup.
No dogs or other domestic animals.
Generator use is permitted 8am-1pm and 5pm-9pm only.
Do not empty portable toilet waste into campground toilets. Carry waste out of the park for disposal in an authorised dump point.
Carry all waste out of the park. No bins provided.
Fees
A per person camping fee applies. There is a no entry fee for Mount Frankland South National Park.

Camping fee must be paid by Mastercard or VISA when booking.
No booking fee.
A fee may apply if you cancel or remove dates from a booking at short notice.
For stays before Monday 12 October 2026
Camping fee: pay at the self-service fee station on arrival at the campground; correct cash only, no change given.
Safety information
Plan when to visit. Consider traveling with a personal location beacon (PLB). In the event you need to be rescued it could save your life!
- Drinking water is not provided.
- No-flush pit toilets are the only personal hygiene facility.
- December to April can be extremely hot and the risk of bushfire can be very high.
- Nights can be cold from June to September.
- Storms are common between May and October throughout WA.
- Ensure you have sufficient supplies (including water, food, fuel, medication and first aid), and equipment and clothing appropriate for the conditions before travelling.
