By booking, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. These may change from time to time and you should visit our website regularly to check for updates.
Parties to agreement
The parties to this agreement are the Conservation and Land Management Executive Body established under section 36 of the Conservation and Land Management Act 1984 (CALM Act) (representing the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and you.
You are responsible for the acts and omissions of all persons occupying any campsite booked by you. This includes, but is not limited to, the payment of all fees and penalties.
You are responsible for sharing all information provided by us, including safety and emergency information, by any means at any time, with all persons that will be or are camping with you at your booked campsite.
Commencement
This agreement commences when your booking reference number is provided and we have received camping fees for all campers in full.
Variation
These terms and conditions or any feature on or accessible through the website may be changed or discontinued at any time and any such changes will be set out on the website.
Bookings essential
At campgrounds where booking is in operation, you must not camp at, place or leave any property on a campsite:
- without a confirmed booking
- before the arrival time and date indicated on your booking confirmation
- after the departure time and date indicated on your booking confirmation
You may be required to provide a printed or electronic copy of your booking confirmation and proof of identity on arrival at a campground or park and at any time during your stay. We may take other steps to verify your details at any time.
If you cannot verify any of your details at any time we may, at our absolute discretion, declare your booking null and void, release the campsite to other campers and you will forfeit all fees paid.
Your booking confirmation is sent by email and available for download at ‘My bookings’ at www.parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au.
User account
You must have a free Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions user account to make a booking.
You may have one user account only.
You must be 18 or more years of age.
Account and contact details
You must use a name we can verify with proof of identity on arrival at a campground or park and at any time during your stay. We may take other steps to verify your identity at any time.
An email address can be used for one user account only. If you change your email address, you must notify us by email at parkstaybookings@dbca.wa.gov.au.
You must reconfirm your phone number each time you make or change your booking. If you do not have an Australian mobile phone number when you make or change your booking, use your current known number and, when you do have an Australian mobile number, change your booking to update the number.
We may use your email address and phone number to contact you about your booking, including in case of emergency.
We, or a contracted research agency, may contact you seeking feedback on your camping or booking experience.
Cancelling your account
You can cancel your account at any time by contacting us by email at parkstaybookings@dbca.wa.gov.au.
If you cancel your account, all future bookings associated with that account will be cancelled, the departure date of any current booking will be changed to the date you cancelled your account and you must vacate the campsite.
Bookings not transferable
Bookings cannot be transferred to another person.
Bookings cannot be transferred to another campground
If you would like to camp at a different campground to the one you have booked you may, subject to other conditions, cancel (see ‘cancellation by you’ below) and make a new booking at another campground.
Campers and camping fees
The minimum and maximum number of persons (excluding infants, five years and under) permitted at a campsite is indicated in the information provided before making or changing a booking.
A per-person per-night camping fee applies to all campers 6 years of age and above, with exception of the accompanying companion/carer of a Companion Card holder.
Infants
No camping fee applies for infants 5 years and under, but they must be included in a booking.
Accompanying companion/carer of a Companion Card holder
The camping fee for the companion/carer accompanying a Companion Card holder is waived, but they must be included in a booking.
The camping fee waiver cannot be applied when you make a booking. You may either:
- Contact us by email at parkstaybookings@dbca.wa.gov.au and we will make a booking on your behalf and apply the fee waiver, or
- Make a booking yourself, including making payment of the camping fee for the companion/carer, then apply for refund of that payment by replying to your booking confirmation email.
Concession fees
Only holders of the following Australian-issued cards are entitled to concession camping fees:
- Seniors Card
- Age Pension
- Disability Support
- Carer Payment
- Carer Allowance
- Companion Card
- Department of Veteran’s Affairs
Any person for whom you have paid concession camping fees may be required to provide proof of entitlement on arrival at a campground or park or at any time during your stay.
Campers cannot vary over the period of a booking
The number of campers in each fee category (adult, concession, child and infant) cannot be changed for part of a booking.
If the number of campers will vary over the period of your stay, you must make separate bookings, each with the correct number of campers for the booked nights.
Payment
The camping fee for all campers must be paid when making or changing a booking.
Vehicles and vehicle entry fees
For the purposes of campsite bookings and these terms and conditions: ‘vehicle’ means any driven or ridden motor vehicle and any towed vehicle including caravans, camper trailers and other trailers such as boat and equipment trailers.
The maximum number of vehicles permitted for a campsite booking is indicated in the information provided when booking (a motorcycle is calculated as 0.5 vehicles). Not all types of vehicles are permitted at all campsites.
Bookings must include all vehicle and their registration numbers. If you do not know the registration number of any vehicle at the time of booking, select the ‘To be confirmed’ option when booking and update the number on or before the booking arrival date.
Bookings for one campsite only
A booking is for one campsite only. You must not have more than one booking for any night.
If friends or family travelling with you cannot be accommodated at your booked campsite, they must book their own campsite.
If you are an outdoor education provider, licensed commercial tour operator or are organising an event (friends, family and other social groups camping together does not constitute an event), contact the Parks and Wildlife Service office managing the campground where you would like to stay to discuss your requirement. Click the contact link at the bottom of the ‘more details’ provided for the campground at www.parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au.
Maximum stay
Excluding the exceptions listed below, the maximum stay in any park is 14 nights if any night is during a Western Australia public school break or 28 nights at any other time. Western Australia public school term and break dates are listed on the Department of Education website.
Maximum stay exceptions
At Karijini Overflow Camping in Karijini National Park the maximum stay is two nights at any time.
At Coalseam Conservation Park the maximum stay is three nights if any night is between the last night of Western Australia public schools term 2 and the Saturday before the start of term 4.
At Henry White Oval Campground in Yanchep National Park the maximum stay is seven nights at any time.
Booking horizon (days before arrival booking can be made)
Bookings can be made up to 180 days before arrival.
Cancellation by you
You may cancel all nights of your booking at any time up to 11.59pm (AWST) on the day before the arrival date by going to ‘My bookings’ at www.parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au.
If you are unable to cancel your booking online: contact the Parks and Wildlife Service office managing bookings for your booked campground by reply to your booking confirmation email or on the phone number provided in that email. Alternatively, click the contact link at the bottom of the ‘more details’ provided for the campground at www.parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au.
Refund in case of cancellation
We will refund the fee paid with your booking, less any cancellation fee (see below).
Changes by you
Before the booking arrival date
You may make any of the following changes to your booking at any time up to 11.59pm (AWST) on the day before the arrival date by going to ‘My bookings’ at www.parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au:
- arrival to a date no earlier than the date you make the change
- departure date
- campsite, within the same campground only
- number of persons camping with you
- number and type of vehicles
- vehicle registration numbers
- for campgrounds in park where a vehicle entry fee applies: the entry fee payment option
- Date changes are subject to availability and maximum stay conditions.
- Camper changes are subject to the number permitted at the booked campsite.
- Vehicle changes are subject to the number and type permitted at the booked campsite.
On or after arrival date and before departure date:
From 0.00am (AWST) on the arrival date until 11.59pm (AWST) on the day before the departure date you may change the departure date of your booking only by going to ‘My bookings’ at www.parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au. Change to a later departure date is subject to availability and maximum stay conditions. No other changes are permitted.
If you are unable to change your booking online: contact the Parks and Wildlife Service office managing bookings for your booked campground by reply to your booking confirmation email or on the phone number provided in that email. Alternatively, click the contact link at the bottom of the ‘more details’ provided for the campground at www.parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au.
On or after departure date:
After 11.59pm (AWST) on the day before the departure date no changes are permitted.
Fee changes
If you remove any dates from your booking a cancellation fee may be applied (see below).
If a change to your booking results in an increase in the total fee, you must pay the increased amount by MasterCard or VISA to complete the change.
If a change to your booking results in a reduction of the total fee, we will refund the difference.
New booking number
When you change your booking, a new booking confirmation, with a new booking confirmation number, and a new tax invoice/receipt will be issued.
The details of the booking before you made the change will be retained with the original booking confirmation number and will be available, along with the original invoice/receipt at ‘My bookings’ at www.parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au. It will be listed as cancelled, and you will be sent an email confirming cancellation.
Cancellation fee
A cancellation fee may apply for any date you remove from your booking by cancelling or changing it.
If you change your booking the cancellation fee does not require a reduction in the number of nights booked. For example, if you change your booking from two nights arriving Friday 1 December, departing Sunday 3 December to two nights arriving Saturday 2 December, departing Monday 3 December; you have removed Friday 1 December from your booking and a cancellation fee may apply.
The amount of the cancellation fee is equivalent to one concession camper fee per date per campsite removed.
The cancellation fee will apply for any date you remove from your booking unless you complete the cancellation or change:
- before the expiry of the grace period (see below)
- more than 14 days before the removed date if the removed date is in a peak period
- more than five days before the removed date if the removed date is not in a peak period
Grace period
There is no grace period for bookings made on the arrival date.
For bookings made one or two days before the arrival date, the grace period begins when the booking is made and expires at 11.59pm (AWST) on the day before the arrival date.
For bookings made three or more days before the arrival date the grace period begins when the booking is made and expires 48 hours later.
Peak periods
Peak periods vary by campground and are indicated in the ‘more details’ provided for each campground at www.parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au.
Refunds in exceptional circumstances
We will consider an application made by you for a refund in case of exceptional circumstances beyond your control, at our absolute discretion.
Any delay in cancelling or changing your booking to make your booked campsite available to others may affect your right to refund.
Application must be submitted in writing, include your booking confirmation number, be supported by documentary evidence of the circumstances, and received by us within 28 days of your departure date.

Cancellation or changes by us
We retain the right to close any part of our parks without notice for management reasons or unforeseen circumstances such as, but not limited to, weather extremes or emergency reasons.
If we have to change or cancel your booking we will, where possible offer you equivalent alternative accommodation for the period of the booking at no additional cost to you. If you decline an offer, or we are unable to offer an alternative, we will refund the fees for all the unused portion of your booking.
No cancellation fee will apply in case of cancellation or change by us.
Breaches of any of the Terms and Conditions
In the event of any breach by you, or other occupants of the booked site, of the Terms and Conditions of this agreement, or of any applicable legislation or regulation including but not limited to the CALM Act, Conservation and Land Management Regulations, the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, the Biodiversity Conservation Regulations, we may at our absolute discretion terminate this agreement and bar you from making further bookings by notice given to you, whether verbally or in writing.
On termination of this agreement, we shall treat the remainder of the booking period as cancelled.
If having been notified, whether verbally or in writing, that you are barred from making further bookings, you do make further bookings, we will cancel those bookings and you will forfeit all payment made.
Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Western Australia.
Entire Agreement
This agreement constitutes the whole agreement between you and us and supersedes all prior representations, agreements, statements and understandings, whether verbal or in writing.
Waiver
None of the terms and conditions in this agreement shall be waived except by written notice signed by the parties to this agreement.
Release and Indemnity
Neither the Conservation & Land Management Executive Body ("Body") nor the State of Western Australia ("State") shall be liable, in negligence or howsoever, for any death, injury or illness of or to, or loss of or damage to property, of you or anyone camping with you. You hereby indemnify & shall keep indemnified each of the Body & the State from & against any loss, cost, expense, damage, suit, action, proceeding, claim, demand, liability & cause of action incurred by or alleged or brought against any of those indemnified on account of you, or anyone else camping with you, initiating, bringing or alleging a suit, action, proceeding, claim, demand, liability or cause of action against either or both of the Body & the State in contravention of the previous sentence, or otherwise.
