About this place
Sugarloaf Rock is a striking ancient formation that has been shaped over millions of years. Its distinctive conical shape and isolation from the mainland make it an important haven for nesting seabirds like the red-tailed tropicbird.
For your safety and to protect this fragile environment, please do not attempt to cross to the rock. The terrain is hazardous, and the wildlife is highly sensitive to disturbance.
The 3.4km (one way) sealed path from Sugarloaf Rock to Cape Naturaliste is assisted wheelchair and pram accessible. This trail forms the northern end of the Cape to Cape Track. There are boardwalk sections with lookouts and bench seating along the way to allow spots to rest and take in the spectacular views.
