Destination information
From the turquoise waters and white sand of the bays and islands of Esperance and the south coast, it’s 1200km north to Burringurrah (Mount Augustus) in the Gascoyne, which is 2.5 times the size of Uluru. In between are the golden plains, eucalyptus forests, freshwater swamps and salt lakes of the parks of Kalgoorlie and the Goldfields. Closest to Perth is the Wheatbelt and one of the last refuges of Western Australia’s fauna emblem, the numbat.
