Two Peoples Bay

We recognise and acknowledge Aboriginal people as the Traditional Owners of Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve.

Two Peoples Bay
Bronwyn Wells

Site access

The beach often has heavy deposits of weed which makes pedestrian access more difficult. In these conditions wheelchair access is not possible. This section of beach is primarily used as an access point to launch boats for recreational and commercial fishing.

While the edge of the beach offers panoramic views across Two Peoples Bay, the beach itself is not well suited to activities such as swimming or for use by visitors with physical mobility restrictions.

The access from the nearest accessible parking bay to the nearby picnic area crosses the beach access road. The surface is quite firm and reasonably level (with gradients of 3 degrees and less). The picnic area is located some 350m from the visitor centre, and can be accessed via a firm path which has some moderately steep (i.e. up to 8.3 degree) gradients. Access along this pathway by wheelchair users is possible with assistance.

Parking

The visitor centre parking area has 31 car bays plus 5 long vehicle bays. The parking area at the unsealed picnic area can accommodate 11 vehicles. The edge of the beach is located approximately 65m from the car park and nearest accessible bay with access via the roadway that terminates at the beach.

Toilets

Toilets are available.
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Unisex

A unisex accessible toilet is provided at the Two Peoples Bay Visitor Centre.

There is a narrow (1m wide) curved path linking the nearby picnic area with the toilet block and change rooms. The toilets can also be accessed from the nearby road that ends at the beach edge

The only ramps are located at the front and rear entry to the visitor centre, which is located some 350m from the picnic area. There is a toilet block and change rooms with showers overlooking the beach and situated approximately 60m from the picnic area. However these ablution facilities pre-date current access standards and are not wheelchair accessible.

The closest accessible toilet is located at the Two Peoples Bay Visitor Centre which is approximately 400m away.   Accessible car parking is located in a bitumen carpark, about 60m from the toilet. It's open when staff or volunteers on site.  This is usually from 10am until 4pm during the summer months.
