Discover the accessible Ancient Empire Trail in the Valley of the Giants

Nestled in Western Australia's Southern Forests, the Ancient Empire Trail in the Valley of the Giants has been enchanting visitors since its opening alongside the Tree Top Walk in 1996.

The trail winds through the bottom of the forest with the awe-inspiring tingle trees, offering an up-close experience of one of nature’s great wonders and complementing the Tree Top Walk high in the tingle trees above.

In 2023, the Ancient Empire Trail underwent a transformation to enhance accessibility, ensuring that more people can immerse themselves in this unique destination. Thanks to the WA Recovery Plan, over 400m meters of new accessible pathways were created, replacing stairs with smooth, levelled timber decking. This redesign also turned the trail into a continuous loop, eliminating the need for an ‘out-and-back’ journey and inviting you to immerse yourself in nature.

These upgrades have opened the tingle forest to visitors using wheelchairs or prams, ensuring even more people can enjoy the magic of the Ancient Empire.

There is no cost to explore the Ancient Empire Trail but admission fees apply for the Tree Top Walk - a 600m accessible walkway effortlessly suspended 40m in the air. Both are open daily 9am-5pm.

Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning to rekindle your connection with the forest, the Ancient Empire Trail is an unforgettable and accessible journey into nature.
