The Nearer to Nature team will be opening the Wellington Discovery Forest Centre (a short drive from Gnomesville) these Spring school holidays. You will have the kids captivated with a shared family experience which includes hands-on crafts and a wonderful taxidermy display.

The Wellington Discovery Forest Centre offers a fascinating and extensive collection of native fauna taxidermies, displayed within their native habitats which brings the fauna of the South West to life and offers a close view of some of our unique secretive nocturnal native animals. Nearer to Nature’s experienced education officers will be available to provide information on the specimens. In addition, the centre hosts a weird and wonderful collection of artifacts collected from the forest, many of them displayed on the hands-on 'touch table' which allows children and adults to take a closer look and handle everything from emu eggs to skulls, furs and even some mummified animals.

To keep the kids engaged, they will also be playing some great documentaries as well as hosting a range of puzzles and papercraft activities where kids can build their own animal and learn more about our amazing wildlife.

Additional outdoor activities are available for groups (minimum 10 people) including fun and informative forest eco-walks and the fabulous blindfold Sense-ational Trail, which can be booked in advance at a small cost.

The centre will be open from 10.30am - 2pm Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays of the Spring school holidays.

Our Nearer to Nature Parks and Wildlife Officers will be there and are looking forward to sharing the wonders of the forest with you.For enquiries or bookings please phone the DBCA Bunbury Office on 9725 4300.
