Join Nearer to Nature South West for their winter school holiday activities.

Book now for fun and educational activities where everyone can learn more about the unique natural environment of the south west.

Bunbury has some amazing locations for you to explore including areas within Kalgulup Regional Park and the new Mangrove Cove All Accessible Playground. You will be able to discover these at some of the exciting workshops below.

What Bird is That? @ Mangrove Cove

DateWednesday 5th July and Wednesday 12th July, 10 - 11.30am

Cost: $5 per family

Length of time: 90 mins

Join us and volunteers from Birdlife Bunbury as we take a gentle walk along the edge of the Leschenault Inlet and the mangrove boardwalk to spot the variety of bird species present. Tune in your hearing to different bird calls and use binoculars to help identify the different bird species that call the Inlet and the surrounding vegetation their home.  If we are lucky, we may spot the resident ospreys nesting or plunging into the water in search of their breakfast.

Please note this experience is for the whole family and children must be under the responsibility of their adults at all times. Proceeds from ticket sales to go to Birdlife Australia to benefit bird conservation programs.

Basic Wildlife Rescue Workshop @ Bunbury Wildlife Park 

Date: Thursday 13th July, 6 pm to 7.00 pm

Cost: $10.00 per person. If you wish to create your own essentials kit for your car, please purchase an 'Essentials Kit' for $25.00. 

Length of time: 60 mins

Would you know what to do if you saw an injured animal on the side of the road or in your backyard? Join us for our Basic Wildlife Rescue activity where you will learn how to help a range of sick or injured native animals. Our wildlife experts will also help you to create an 'essentials kit' to keep in your car in case of an animal emergency.

Please note this experience is for adults and children aged 12+ to participate. The age limit of in place so participants can get the most out of their activity. Tickets must be purchased for all attending participants and at least one adult must attend per booking. 

 

Frog Forage @ Bunbury

Date: Friday 14th July, 6 pm to 7.30 pm

Cost: $15 per participant

Length of time: 90 mins

Hop along for a froggy fun family night-adventure. Pop on your gumboots and come on a Frog Forage adventure with Johnny, The Frog Doctor, to see what species we can find in the night in the City of Bunbury. Learn how to attract frogs into your garden and identify local frog calls and then go on the hunt to see what species you can find. Suitable for ages 6+ to participate.
