About this place
Baigup Wetland is located just seven kilometres east of Perth. The wetland is a very important feeding area for birds in the middle and lower reaches of the Swan River. Two lakes provide perennial habitat for waterbirds.
The Nyoongar word 'baigup' means 'rushes' or, more probably according to Nyoongars today, 'place of rushes'. There is one main sealed path running through the middle of the reserve. There are also picnic areas, seating and public toilets.
