We recognise and acknowledge Yamatji Nation people as the Traditional Owners of Coalseam Conservation Park.

The Fossil Picnic Area is on the east bank of the Irwin River where you can admire the view.

About this place

This quiet picnic area on the eastern bank of the Irwin River features views over the Irwin River, and gets its name from marine fossils found nearby, which provide evidence of an earlier time when the park was covered by a Permian sea.
