About this place

Irwin Inlet is a tranquil location to take a break in your travels and enjoy a picnic by the water. The sand spit at the mouth of the inlet is popular with fishermen from Peaceful Bay by four-wheel drive access along the beach.

Wet your fishing line but you must have a Recreational Fishing licence which you can purchase online from Fisheries. Bag limits apply.

Try scenic saltwater paddling to the inlet mouth along narrow channels or row up the Kent or Bow river.

Safety information

Plan when to visit. Consider travelling with a personal location beacon (PLB). In the event you need to be rescued it could save your life!

Getting there

Turn onto Peaceful Bay Road from South Coast Highway. Either put-in at Bow River (turn left onto dirt track a short distance from highway, then turn left again - the water is deep) or at roadside picnic area about 5km from highway - inlet is very shallow here.

Park boundaries are approximations only and should not be used for navigation or orientation purposes.

Acknowledgement of Country
