About this place
The turn-off to Mount Herbert is from the Roebourne-Wittenoom Road and the trailhead in the carpark informs visitors of trails, trail length and precautions to be taken while walking.
The McKenzie Spring Trail leads to an historic watering hole for camel and bullock teams. It is 4.5km return. Although a relatively easy trail please allow more than an hour as the trail travels over uneven surfaces.
The Mount Herbert Summit Trail is 600m return. Allow 25 minutes. Be rewarded with the view over the Chichester Range and plain to Pyramid Hill.
The Camel Trail connects Mount Herbert with Python Pool across the rugged basalt and sandstone of the Chichester Range. It is a moderately difficult 8km walk one way without shade. Allow 3 hours. Remember it is 16km and 6 hours for the return walk.
