Experience stunning views from the Eagle Gorge Lookout or wander down to a delightful beach in the tranquil depths of the gorge.

The northern-most coastal lookouts in the park have great views south along sandstone cliffs and north beyond the town of Kalbarri to the 200km expanse of the Zuytdorp Cliffs.

A short path leads to a lookout providing expansive views over the Murchison River Gorge.

Enjoy a picnic in these stunning natural surroundings and look for a wide variety of marine life, including whales and dolphins, from two universally accessible cliff-top lookouts.

Spectacular views of the Murchison River Gorge can be seen from this lookout.

Sands and silts containing an assortment of minerals have been layered, compacted and weathered to form this spectrum in stone. Rainbows may be seen in the sea mist.

The resilient Island Rock was once part of the shoreline, but now stands as a solitary 'sea stack'.

Vantage points far above the river provide dramatic views in every direction.

Along the Kalbarri coast, wind and wave erosion have exposed the layered sandstone in cliffs that rise more than 100m above the ocean.

Trails

Bush Walk
8 kilometres

The eight kilometre Bigurda Trail hugs the coastline between Eagle Gorge and Natural Bridge, providing stunning coastal views. Arrange to be dropped off at Eagle Gorge and traverse south along the coastal cliffs for 3 to 5 hours, finishing up at the Natural Bridge.

700 metres

In the stunning Kalbarri National Park this 700 metre return walk will take you down to the edge of the Murchison River for a cool swim or kayak.  Just 20 metres from the car park is a wheelchair accessible lookout offering panoramic views.

Visitors can admire the spectacular views of the Murchison River Gorge, from the overhanging rock formation of the Z bend lookout, a moderately easy walk from the carpark.

For the more adventurous hikers, once admiring the views from the Z Bend Lookout, you can embark on the trek down into the gorge, meandering between boulders and river red gums to reach the Murchison River.

The 9km Loop Walk in Kalbarri National Park takes you past the iconic Natures Window and follows a loop along the Murchison River. This trail is best hiked in the cooler months between May and October as temperatures in the gorge can reach 50C in summer.

Urban Walk
300 metres

The Meanarra Hill Lookout walk is a 300m return trail with beautiful panoramic views over the town of Kalbarri, the mouth of the Murchison River and inland across the park.  At 207m above sea level Meanarra Hill is the perfect vantage point for 360° views of Kalbarri and the Murchison River flowing into the Indian Ocean – this is an ideal spot for photos, especially at sunset!

38 kilometres

The Murchison River Gorge Walk is a 38km trail from Ross Graham Lookout to The Loop, through the dramatic landscape of Kalbarri National Park. With no marked trail or route this hike provides ample challenges to test experienced walkers.

This coastal trail is either a sealed path or boardwalk all the way making it accessible to more people. It incorporates the southern section of the Bigurda Trail and an additional section taking you to the Natural Bridge.
