The Bloodwoods is one of the starting points for Mini Palms Trail, Homestead Valley Trail, and the southern end of the Escarpment Trail. There are toilets, shaded picnic areas and the Bloodwoods Lookout. Bloodwoods parking area is 19km from the visitor centre.
Homestead Valley
- Distance 4.4km return
- Class 3
- Time allow 2 hours
This 4.4km return trail to the Bloodwoods cuts deep into the range, through open woodlands and an uneven, dry creek bed. The trail ends at a shaded rest area overlooking views of Homestead Valley.
Escarpment Trail
- Distance 7.2km return
- Class 3
- Time allow 2 hours
Follow the Escarpment trail along the range through open woodlands and spinifex hummocks to Echidna. The path is exposed to the sun and crosses uneven, stony, dry, creek beds.
The turnoff to Mini Palms is 1km along the trail and it's a further 2.6km to the Echidna parking area.
Both Mini Palms and Homestead Valley can also be accessed from the Echinda parking area via the Escarpment Trail.
Drones are not permitted.
Safety information
Plan when to visit and be prepared. Consider travelling with a personal location beacon (PLB). In the event you need to be rescued it could save your life!
There is INTERMITTENT OPTUS coverage only in Purnululu National Park and free wifi available at the visitor centre.
Temperatures within the park and on the walk trails can reach 40°C (104°F) and radiant heat can increase the temperature to over 50°C (122°F).
As a minimum carry and drink 1 litre of water per hour of walking, per person.
Purnululu National Park is a drone free area - unauthorised drone use is strictly prohibited.
