About this campground

St Mary Campground is located near the mouth of the inlet. Camping fees apply. There is a track from the campground that provides direct access to the beach where southern right whales can be seen sheltering in the bay with their young calves during winter.

Non-bookable campgrounds operate on a first come, first served basis. Be aware that this campground may get busy, especially during weekends and holidays. Identify alternative accommodation in case there are no campsites available when you arrive.

Standard park entry fees apply for Fitzgerald River National Park.

Site access

This is an older style campground on vegetated and undulating dunes and with various access barriers. There are several tracks leading from the campground to the beach, including a four-wheel drive vehicle access track near the campers’ registration station and various “goat tracks” from the campsites through the dunes. These tracks are very fine loose sand.
