Le Grand Beach Campground

We recognise and acknowledge Wudjari people as the traditional owners of Cape Le Grand National Park.

Le Grand Beach Campground is nestled by a wide sweep of beach with distant views to island peaks.

About this campground

Le Grand Beach is a small campground behind the sand dunes.

Booking

Bookings are essential and can be made up to 180 days (approximately six months) before arrival and for one campsite only. The maximum stay in any park is 14 nights if any night is during Western Australia public school holidays, 28 nights at any other time.

Specific campsites cannot be reserved. After booking select from campsites vacant on arrival at the campground.

If you are an outdoor education provider, licensed commercial tour operator or are organising an event (friends, family and other social groups camping together does not constitute an event), contact Parks and Wildlife Service Esperance District Office to discuss your requirements.

Campsites

Fourteen compacted crushed rock reverse-in campsites.

All campsites are unpowered

Facilities

Drinking water is not provided. Untreated water may be available but supply is not guaranteed and treatment is required to make safe for consumption.

Flush toilets.

Showers (hot water not guaranteed).

Sheltered food preparation area with gas barbecue, dishwashing sink, food preparation surfaces, picnic tables and benches.

Campground Rules

No campfires at any time.

Dogs are not permitted.

Generator use is permitted at all campsites between 8am-1pm and 5pm-9pm only.

Do not empty chemical toilet waste into campground toilets. Carry waste out of the park for disposal in an authorised dump point.

Dispose of non-toilet waste in the bins provided at the campground or carry out of the park.

Fees

A per person camping fee and a per vehicle park entry fee apply.

Camping fee must be paid by Mastercard or VISA when booking.

Vehicle entry fee may be paid when booking, on arrival at Cape Le Grand National Park or by purchasing a park pass and is required for motor vehicles only. Payment is not required for trailers, including camper trailers and caravans.

Safety information

Drinking water is not provided.

December to April can be extremely hot and the risk of bushfire can be very high.

Nights can be cold from June to September.

Storms are common between May and October throughout WA.

Cape Le Grand National Park is in remote Australia.

Ensure you have sufficient supplies (including water, food, fuel, medication and first aid), and equipment and clothing appropriate for the conditions before travelling.

Site access

There are 15 campsites of varying dimensions with a compacted gravel surface and level gradients.

The beach can be accessed via a gravel track with an entry/exit point near the parking area. The beach consists of fine white sand with a reasonably firm base for four-wheel drive vehicles but, depending on the season and storm events, there may be some guttering and seaweed build up. An informal pathway also leads from the parking area to the back edge of the beach.
