Trails

The Hakea Trail is a 23 kilometre spectacular and rugged coastal walk trail in the East Fitzgerald National Park.  It starts at the Cave Point car park and extends westward to Quoin Head.  However, the trail can be accessed at several points along its route. The trail has markers bearing the Royal Hakea.

This is a dramatic gorge, full of colour texture and reflections and a great spot for a swim. Hamersley Gorge is in the north-west of Karijini, further afield than the other gorges. Swirls of rock sweep down through the gorge and waterfalls rush into tranquil pools. There have been improvements to the site including sealed road access to the lower car park, a new constructed lookout, toilet and various infrastructure items.

For the fit and adventurous the Hancock Gorge Trail is one of the most spectacular short trails in Western Australia.  Whilst it’s a short 400 metres return,  suggested time to take on this trail is 80 minutes which gives a clue to its Class 5 level.

Gorge Trail is a spectacular 1.9km (return) bushwalk through Bandiln͟gan (Windjana Gorge). Discover the Devonian reef system which is unlike any other in the Kimberley. As you move through the gorge keep an eye out for freshwater crocodiles and cheeky bower birds collecting white objects for their nest.

The 500m return Corella Trail follows the south bank of tranquil Cattle Pool has some steps and slippery surfaces. Look and listen for corellas and other birds in their natural habitat. This is an important site to the Wajarri Aboriginal people. Please remain on the designated trail.

For those wishing to get good views but finding the longer Summit Trail a bit intimidating, the Goordgeela Trail could be for you. This difficult 3km return hike passes through open acacia shrubland for 550m, then scrambles up a long and steep rocky watercourse. A steep ascent takes you to a lookout with views to the north.

The Gorge Rim Walk and Dales Gorge Walk Trails create a 5.1km loop trail in the Karijini National Park. The Gorge Rim Walk follows the rim of Dales Gorge all the way to Three Ways and Circular Pool Lookouts, before descending into the gorge.  From here follow the Dales Gorge Trail to Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool before climbing back up to the Fortescue Falls car park.  

This 1.2 km, Class 3 walk, takes you over a huge granite outcrop in the Totadgin Conservation Park, near the Wheatbelt town of Merredin. The rock features a mini wave formation and beautiful displays of wildflowers in season. Please follow the trail in a clockwise direction.

The Glen Brook walking trails is a picturesque 4.5km, Class 3 trail with option for a shorter 2km loop. The trail is marked in an anti-clockwise direction following Glen Brook up to the dam and beyond where you will pass through scenic gullies and see impressive granite outcrops.

This ten kilometre moderate trail loops through towering karri forest; over hills;  down gullies and across hidden creeks and waterfalls.  A rewarding and beautiful trail commencing in the Gloucester National Park near Pemberton.

This 12 kilometre return walk starts from the world’s tallest climbable tree - the Gloucester Tree and finishes at the Cascades, a series of babbling rapids along Lefroy Brook.  It uses the Bibbulmun Track.

This six kilometre return walk takes you from Pemberton town site to the Gloucester Tree or visa versa.  The Gloucester tree is the world’s tallest climbable tree - and the view from the top is amazing!

This Bibbulmun Track day walk from the Giant Tingle Tree to Coalmine Beach is 6.1 km one way or 12.2 km return. The walk is in the Walpole Wilderness area, which boasts some of Western Australia’s most spectacular landscapes, coasts, habitats and vegetation.

Just on the outskirts of Kununurra is a rugged series of ranges in Mirima National Park. One of the best ways to get a feel of the place, is on this 2 kilometre return walk through Savannah woodland. It’s a great trail for seeing abundant wildlife in the area.

The 12.4km loop Ghost House Walk Trail will take most of the day to complete, so make sure you have plenty of water your lunch and snacks. It takes you on a journey to discover the natural and cultural history of the wilderness areas in Yanchep National Park, an hour north of Perth.  Along the way you will encounter the sights and sounds of the pristine wetlands and discover the historic remains of the ‘Ghost House’.

Gathercole Reserve Walk Trail is a moderately easy, 3.1 kilometre trail through the Gathercole Reserve and over a large granite outcrop, near the wheatbelt town of Wongan Hills. The trail is clearly marked with a variety of natural surfaces and some short steep sections.

Located in Cape Le Grand National Park, a walk to the summit up the east slope of Frenchman Peak is rewarded with spectacular views over the park of the southern coastline and islands in the Recherche Archipelago.

Flintstone Rock is an Aboriginal cultural site that takes about 30 minutes to explore including stops. The 650m return walk follows along a water-smoothed rocky creek bed.
