This short walk meanders around East Contine Hill, a laterite breakaway that was the ideal site for the lookout towers used during the summer fire season.  These towers were staffed during the summer fire season by forestry workers and their wives who were known as “spotters”.

5.8 kilometres

For a great overall impression of the geographical marvel that is the Kennedy Ranges, you can do no better than walk the 5.8 kilometre return Escarpment Base Trail.  There is interesting geology as well as sandalwood (Santalum spicatum) to observe between Temple Gorge Campground and Honeycomb Gorge Trail. A lookout area is a feature of the section between Honeycomb Gorge and Sunrise View trails.

You can start this 3.4 kilometre trail either from the Draper Gorge car park or Temple Gorge campground. If you are capable of going up and down steep sections, getting to the top of the escarpment is well worth the considerable effort as you will be rewarded with panoramic views.

This short, one kilometre family-friendly walk is just perfect to introduce your kids to nature. Featuring interpretative signage, visiting ‘Dwerta Mia’ - the ‘house of the wild dog’ - will give you a unique experience of Australia through the eyes of Aboriginal culture as well as a better understanding of how the limestone environment has formed over hundreds of thousands of years.

This short 400 metre boardwalk is perched high above the shallow waters of Henri Freycinet Harbour. There are excellent views of two small limestone islands and marine life that frequents the inshore waters. Rays, sharks, schools of fish and even turtles and dugongs can often be seen especially during summer.

This challenging 14.8km circuit walk around John Forrest National Park offers great views across the Swan Coastal Plain to Perth city and the ocean in the distance. The trail is a bushwalker's delight, covering a variety of relatively pristine habitats, passing beautiful waterfalls and boasting spectacular wildflower displays in Spring.

The trail up East Mt Barren is a short but difficult walk offering impressive views from the summit over Culham Inlet, the Eyre Range, Hamersley Inlet and the peaks of mid Mt Barren and Thumb Peak. Offering flowers throughout the year.

The Echidna Chasm walk trail is 2 kilometres return from the carpark and has steep-sided gorge walls up to 200 metres high and barely a metre wide in places.  It features prehistoric Livistona palms and gorge walls exhibiting extraordinary colours.

This 11 kilometre loop trail in Walyunga National Park initially follows the Avon River before it ascends steeply to the western side of the river.  It passes through marri and wandoo woodland, currently with a thick understorey of regrowth after fire, before offering good views of the Avon Valley from Woodsome Hill.

Edney’s Trail involves lengthy rocky sections of rough unformed trail, very steep slopes and rock scrambling to reach Edney’s Lookout. This trail is suitable for those seeking impressive panoramic views without tackling the much longer, very difficult Summit Trail.

Just on the outskirts of Kununurra is a rugged series of ranges in Mirima National Park. There are a series of short walk trails. The Derdbe-Gerring Banan trail is a mere 1.2km return, but is packed with fascinating rock formations. Enjoy the views over Kununurra from the lookout.

A moderate two hour walk to take you to the highest peak of the Porongurup Ranges. With sweeping views from the summit, to the South over the Indian Ocean on a clear day and Stirling Ranges to the North.

The challenging Class 4 Drapers Gorge trail is located in the Kennedy Range NP. This 2km return trail follows a stony watercourse. You can expect lots of scrambling up and down steep loose stony slopes and narrow rock ledges to negotiate.

Dalmanyi (Bell Gorge) Trail starts from the parking area and ends just above the stunning waterfall with spectacular views of the gorge. Dalmanyi Falls Trail is an extension of the Dalmanyi (Bell Gorge) Trail which crosses over the top of the falls and down to the deep pool below.

This four kilometre hike takes in the summit of Mount Clare, the karri and tingle forest and the suspension bridge on the Deep River. This loop walk will take around one and a half hours.

Just on the outskirts of Kununurra is a rugged series of ranges in Mirima National Park. This is a short sharp trail taking about 20 minutes to complete. Most people take a bit longer to admire the view overlooking Kununurra.

A 17.5 kilometre loop walk through the coastal plain vegetation of Yanchep National Park.  It passes through Ridge’s campsite from the Coastal Plain Trail and in spring offers a carpet of wildflowers.  Kangaroos, the black gloved wallaby and quenda, along with Carnaby’s black cockatoos, may be spotted.
