Hamersley Gorge

We recognise and acknowledge Banyjima, Innawonga and Kurrama people as the Traditional Owners of Karijini National Park.

Site access

The gorge lookout has an 8.8m deep by 6.2m wide fan-shaped metal grid deck. It's encircled by 110cm high safety railings and is approximately 65m from the parking area. There is barrier free access via a curved concrete walkway/ramp with a maximum gradient of 4.4°.   

Parking

The bitumen parking area has 14 vehicles bays, including one designated accessible bay. There are also 4 extended bays (28m in length) to accommodate longer vehicles. There is approximately 150m of concrete walkways that provide barrier free access from the parking area to the toilets, and scenic lookout.

The designated accessible bay is 2.4m wide with an adjoining 2.4m vehicle free set down-area. There is also kerb which has been cut to allow barrier free access for wheelchairs.

Toilets

Toilets are available.
  • Wheelchair accessible

A concrete walkway leads a short inclined distance from the designated accessible parking bay to the toilet. The toilet has a short concrete entry ramp, and visitors with mobility restrictions are able to park right next to this ramp to access the toilet.

The toilets are located 16m from the designated accessible parking bay, with barrier free access via a concrete walkway. The walkway has a maximum gradient of 4.3° (generally less than 3°). The toilet has a short concrete entry ramp. If necessary, visitors with mobility restrictions can park immediately next to this ramp to gain access to the toilet.
