Drive (2WD)
160 kilometres

Shark Bay is the most western point of the coast of Australia and is made up of two peninsulas jutting out into the Indian Ocean. The 160 kilometre Shark Bay World Heritage Drive runs between the Overlander Roadhouse on the NW Coastal Hwy to Monkey Mia, where a pod of dolphins have made their home and freely interact with visitors.

The Sharp Point Walk Trail is a short 250m loop trail in Torndirrup National Park providing awe inspiring coastal views out to The Gap and Peak Head in the south-east and out to the Albany Wind Farm in the south-west.

This is an eight kilometre loop walk, taking in the summit of Mt Clare , the Deep River suspension bridge and the beautiful karri and tingle forest.

Along the coast at Rockingham, less than 45 minutes drive south from Perth, you can kayak in the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. Limestone cliffs, sandy beaches, wildlife, birds, surf, fish, swim, snorkel on a shipwreck. This trail has it all.

This ten kilometre trail in Wellington National Park is a dual use mountain bike and walk trail.  It starts at the Wellington Dam kiosk and loops through jarrah and marri forest, returning via the Potters Gorge camping area on Wellington Dam to the kiosk.

Toolibin Lake is an area of high conservation value being one of the last remaining inland freshwater lakes in the south west. This easy 1.6 kilometre loop walk takes about 45 minutes and you can learn about the lake from the interpretive signs. 41 species of waterbird have been recorded here including rare species like the freckled duck.

The Ride the Sunset Coast pathway extends from the southern suburb of Munster, to Burns Beach, north of Perth. The 14 kilometre section from Marmion to Burns Beach is an easy, half day cycle that contains many of the highlights including Hillarys Marina, Marmion Marine Park and wilder coastal vegetation.

The route to Mokare’s Rock is steep in places but the view to leafy karri crowns and across the Shannon Basin is magnificent. A boardwalk across Mokare’s Rock protects the fragile carpet of mosses, lichens and flowers growing on the granite.

Rocky Pool Walk is a 5km loop in the Kalamunda National Park visiting the picturesque Rocky Pool, with beautiful seasonal wildflowers and abundant wildlife. It includes a section of the Bibbulmun Track and has some difficult, steep loose descents, making this a challenging, rewarding bush walk with spectacular valley views.

In the stunning Kalbarri National Park this 700 metre return walk will take you down to the edge of the Murchison River for a cool swim or kayak.  Just 20 metres from the car park is a wheelchair accessible lookout offering panoramic views.

The Saddle Trail is an 800m return hike involving loose rocks, unstable and slippery surfaces and crosses a usually dry creek bed. A good level of fitness is needed to climb a moderate slope to the saddle that provides a view over the Lyons River valley to the north.

Railway Reserves Heritage Trail follows the route of the old Eastern Railway and is unique in providing a 41 kilometre loop entirely on railway formations. This extensive trail passes through quaint hills communities including Darlington, Parkerville and Mundaring.

The Pioneers’ Pathway is a self-drive route that traverses the Wheatbelt between Toodyay and Merredin following the well worn trail early prospectors travelled to the Yilgarn, Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie Goldfields. Wander past expansive farmland and nature reserves through the small towns of Goomalling, Dowerin, Wyalkatchem, Trayning and Nungarin.

This 3.2km return walk trail in Coalseam Conservation Park is renowned for its spectacular spring wildflower display and fascinating geological history.  The trail meanders through a rare eucalypt woodland and takes visitors to a plateau ridge to enjoy sweeping valley views over a majestic landscape.  Look carefully and walk quietly to discover some of the park’s birds and reptiles along the way.
